SHIRE OF MURRAY ‘GET ONLINE’ WEEK WORKSHOP
What a wonderful morning it was teaching smartphone photography skills at the Shire of Murray's Get Online Week 'Tea & Tech' Seniors event! This community workshop focused on empowering seniors with essential digital photography skills and building their confidence in navigating their phone's camera functions.
During my hands-on smartphone photography workshop, participants learned key composition techniques, camera settings, and photo editing tips that transformed their approach to mobile photography, helping seniors take better photos with the devices they use every day.
One of the highlights was the selfie photography session, where participants practiced their newly learned skills in real-time. For some attendees, this was their first-ever selfie—a milestone that brought plenty of laughter and visible growth in their digital confidence! Watching attendees overcome their hesitation and embrace smartphone photography is always the most rewarding part of these workshops.
The group's enthusiasm was infectious. Questions flowed freely, and participants actively sought help with their specific photography challenges. This kind of interactive, motivated learning environment is exactly why I'm passionate about teaching digital skills workshops.
In today's digital world, keeping up with technology is essential, and helping the community navigate this ever-evolving landscape brings me tremendous joy. Since we use our phone cameras daily for everything from capturing family moments, holidays snaps and documenting our lives, knowing how to take better photos and properly use camera functions is an invaluable skill.
