SMARTPHONE WORKSHOPS FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS

Practical, confidence-building workshops designed to help people take beautiful photos with the phone they already have.

Led by Perth-based photographer and educator Tanita Seton, these sessions are welcoming, accessible, and perfect for complete beginners.

Who these workshops are for

These workshops are designed especially for people who feel unsure about photography — or who’ve never really explored their phone’s camera before.

You don’t need any photography experience, technical knowledge, or a fancy phone. Tanita breaks everything down into simple, easy-to-understand steps, with plenty of time to practise, ask questions, and get one-on-one support.

They’re ideal for:

  • Community groups

  • Libraries and councils

  • Seniors groups

  • Creative groups and clubs

  • Individuals wanting to feel more confident with their phone camera

Your Questions, Answered

  • Yes! My workshops are designed especially for people who have limited or no photography experience. I'll teach you how to use your phone's camera settings and features, so you don't need to know anything about photography OR your phone's camera to get started.

(The Intermediate Smartphone Photography Workshop requires you to have completed the Beginner workshop or have basic photography knowledge.)

  • Any smartphone works perfectly - iPhone, Android, Samsung, or any other brand. The techniques I teach apply to all phones, and I'll help you find the right settings for your specific device.

  • Please bring your fully charged phone with some free storage space for photos. Also bring any questions you may have and your creativity!

  • My workshops run for 2 hours so there is time for theory, lots of practice and questions.

  • My workshops are designed for up to 20 people so there’s plenty of time for 1:1 help and questions.  However if your group is larger than this it can be accommodated.  Please get in touch.

  • I can come to your venue! My workshops are designed to be held at community centres, libraries, council facilities, or other accessible community spaces. All I need is a room, projector and seating area that can comfortably fit the group. For individual bookings, specific venue details will be provided upon registration.

  • Yes! All participants with mobility needs are welcome. All photography techniques we teach can be adapted to work from a seated position or with limited mobility. Please let us know about any specific accommodations you need when you register, and we'll make sure everything is arranged before the workshop begins.

  • Yes, absolutely! Carers and support workers are welcome to attend with you. They can participate in the workshop or simply be there to provide support - whatever works best for you.

  • Please contact me via the contact page or email tanita@tanitaseton.com.au

  • Yes! All attendees receive a 'Quick Reference Guide' to take home that summarises the key techniques we covered. This makes it easy to continue practicing what you've learned long after the workshop ends.
