retreat photography magic with Elizabeth Gilbert

In February 2020 I was invited to be the official retreat photographer at the Ultimate Girls Week Away in Fiji for Retreats at Resorts by Liesel Albrecht. In my work I’m always striving to combine my love of travel and photography so retreat photography is my absolute dream. I capture the transformations, sisterhood and power of women coming together on retreat. It is so powerful, using my camera to capture those memories for attendees and organisers means that the magic lives on forever.

Hundreds of women from all over the world gathered in Fiji to listen to keynote speaker Elizabeth Gilbert, yes! the author of Eat Pray Love, Big Magic and City of Girls. And for me being able to photograph and document this mesmerising woman sharing her knowledge, stories and wisdom with everyone, allowing tears to flow and laughter to bubble up was a highlight. Her charisma, grounded energy and generosity of time and spirit made taking photographs effortless for me.

Her message to us all? For women to know true relaxation in their lives. To understand what it means to truly relax. So as I was holding my my camera pondering this, capturing the big magic on stage, I let out a sigh and allowed myself to fully relax into the moment and enjoy. Such beautiful retreat memories and a magical place to work.
